Luxury Car Buying Guide: Unregistered vs Pre-owned Cars

Buyers are entities that keep evolving. Their goal is to get their hands on the best deals, and to achieve that, they’re willing to forego traditional shopping habits. The story of the luxury car market in India is quite similar.

The modern luxury car buyer is not limited and doesn’t necessarily rush to a showroom to snag a brand-new luxury sedan or SUV. Instead, they’re open to flirting with alternative options to own and adore the car of their dreams.

These buyers are often faced with two major options when finding a rather economical route to owning a luxury car.

These include the following:

– Buying a pre-owned luxury car

– Buying an unregistered luxury car

As compared to buying a brand new one, these two options offer impressive savings opportunities. And owning a swanky Mercedes-Benz, a power-packed BMW, or a sleek Audi doesn’t seem like a far-off dream.

However, both options have their own set of pros and cons! In this article, we will dissect them to help you make a well-informed choice.

What are Pre-Owned Luxury Cars?

As the name suggests, these luxury cars have already been owned, registered, and used by an individual buyer or a business before arriving in the resale market.

Things to Know About Pre-Owned Cars

  • The condition of the car varies depending on usage history, age, and mileage.
  • They can be bought via OEM-certified used car programs, private sellers, or independent dealerships.
  • The depreciation is already factored into the price, making them significantly affordable option.
  • While buying one of these, buyers must consider factors like transparency in service history and accidents, and ownership details.

What are Unregistered Luxury Cars?

Unregistered cars, sometimes known as demo cars or showroom cars, are primarily brand-new vehicles that have not registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

Things to Know About Unregistered Cars

  • Are usually used for test drives and display at showrooms and dealerships.
  • Have very minimal mileage on them.
  • Comes with the advantage of manufacturer-backed warranties that often begin from the registration date.

Key Differences: Unregistered Cars vs Pre-Owned Cars

Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the two options:

Aspect Unregistered Cars Pre-Owned Cars
Registration Not registered yet Already registered
Ownership You become the first owner You’re the second owner at best
Condition Almost like a new car Depends heavily on usage history
Pricing 10%-15% lower costs Up to 40% lower costs
Financing Similar to new car rates Varies based on age
Warranty Often come with a Manufacturer’s warranty May or May not come with a warranty

Unregistered Cars vs Pre-Owned Cars: Pros & Cons

To help you make up your mind with slightly more clarity, let’s look at the pros and cons of both these options separately.

Unregistered Cars

Pros:

  • First-owner benefits
  • Despite the older model year, the condition of the car is close to ‘factory fresh’.
  • Often comes with a manufacturer’s warranty that begins with the registration of the car.
  • When compared to the current new model of that car, these can cost up to 25% less.

Cons:

  • Limited availability in terms of colour, variant, etc.
  • It can sometimes have a slightly older set of features compared to the current models.
  • Storage-related wear and tear is a possibility.

Pre-Owned Cars

Pros:

  • Highly economical option, especially for luxury cars which depreciate heavily in their first 2-3 years.
  • Opportunity to choose from a wide variety of options and even snag old trims or discontinued models of a car.
  • When buying via Certified Pre-Owned Programs (CPO), peace of mind comes along with the luxury car of your dreams.
  • If well-maintained, pre-owned cars offer impressive resale value as the biggest depreciation hit has already been absorbed.

Cons:

  • Possibility of usage-related wear and tear, which is, in some cases, quite visible.
  • Ownership history concerns are an issue, especially in the case of cars with multiple prior owners.
  • Interest rates on loans are much higher than compared on new cars (or for the sake of this comparison, unregistered options like demo cars).
  • Repair and replacement expenses can be pretty high for out-of-warranty pre-owned cars.

Who Should Buy What?

We would call this ‘The Verdict’ section, but we dare not. Why? The final verdict is that of the buyer, based on their preferences, needs, and other factors.

So, here are our two cents on the question asked in this section.

Opt for Unregistered Cars If:

  • You want the benefits and the psychological satisfaction that comes with being the first owner of the car.
  • You want zero risk that is usually associated with a previous owner having used the car and any issues that it might have led to.
  • You are seeking a full OEM warranty and reliable after-sales support.
  • You want to buy the closest thing to a new luxury car at an impressive discount.

Opt for Pre-Owned Cars If:

  • You are conscious of the budget and are seeking maximum luxury at the lowest possible entry cost.
  • You need to skim through different colors, variants, and models before making up your mind to buy.
  • You want to ensure that your purchase is ‘depreciation-proof’ because, as we said, pre-owned cars have already undergone the biggest depreciation hit.
  • You’re comfortable compromising on getting the latest model of the car with the latest set of features.
  • You’re willing to take out the time and energy to thoroughly research the car’s ownership and service history to get a decent deal on your hands.

Buying Tips for Both Segments

Irrespective of which of the two options you choose, we have some tips for you to make a rewarding purchase:

Thorough Inspection: People inspect thoroughly when buying a pre-owned car, which is great. However, even while purchasing an unregistered car, you should inspect the car carefully for any wear and tear

Document Verification: Make sure that all the paperwork is in place, like Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN), tax certificates, and all the RTO paperwork.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO): When making the big choice, don’t just rely on the purchase cost. Consider the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), including potential resale value, insurance premiums, service costs, fuel economy, etc.

Service Records Check: If you’re considering buying a pre-owned luxury car, remember to give its service history a thorough look. This will help you evaluate any mileage and maintenance claims beforehand. While conducting this background check on the car, also remember to check pending challans, insurance claims, etc.

Explore Certified Programs: Reduce the risk of any fraud or irregularities in the purchase by opting for either reputed luxury used car dealerships or going with OEM CPO programs.

Negotiate for the Best Deal: There’s room for negotiation for all kinds of purchases. So, whether you’re buying a pre-owned car or an unregistered luxury car, remember to negotiate to get the best deal.

Making the Smarter Luxury Choice

The choice between unregistered vs pre-owned cars in the luxury segment depends on a multitude of factors. These including the buyer’s personal preferences, their budget, and their expectations in terms of the ownership of the vehicle.

In a nutshell, both options give the buyer an opportunity to venture into the luxury segment while going a little easy on the pocket. Whatever option you go with, remember to prioritize buying from a reputed and trustworthy dealership.

MBUX vs iDrive vs MMI – The Best Luxury Infotainment System (2025)

Step into any modern luxury chariot on Indian roads, and you’re greeted not just by sumptuous leather and polished wood, but by a dazzling digital soul – the infotainment system.

This isn’t just a screen; it’s the car’s central nervous system, its digital concierge, its window to the connected world. Leading this charge are the German titans: Mercedes-Benz with its MBUX, BMW with its legendary iDrive, and Audi with the technically precise MMI.

These aren’t mere interfaces; they’re distinct personalities vying for your attention and command. As of 2025, which of these digital powerhouses delivers the most intelligent, intuitive, and downright jaw-dropping experience in India? Let’s ignite the comparison.

Mercedes-Benz MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience)

MBUX

The Digital Oracle with Hollywood Flair

MBUX didn’t just arrive; it detonated onto the scene – a digital supernova focused on innate usability, predictive intelligence, and visuals so dazzling they border on digital art.

In India, experience its latest magic in models like the sophisticated C-Class, the versatile GLC, the benchmark E-Class LWB, the imperious S-Class, the commanding GLE and GLS, and the electric flagships, the EQE SUV and EQS Sedan.

Visual Masterpiece: MBUX is the undisputed maestro of screen real estate. Prepare for vast, high-definition digital canvases that flow across the dashboard. The absolute pinnacle is the MBUX Hyperscreen – available in India on the EQS Sedan and EQS SUV

It’s less a screen, more a 56-inch curved glass portal into the future, seamlessly merging three potent OLED displays. Not far behind, the new E-Class LWB boasts the MBUX Superscreen, a similar triple-display spectacle. Graphics are unbelievably crisp, animations are liquid-smooth – pure digital theatre.

Command Methods: Your primary wands are the hyper-responsive touchscreen, elegant touch controls on the steering wheel, and the system’s crowning glory: the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant.

“Hey Mercedes” – Your Digital Genie: Forget robotic commands. MBUX boasts perhaps the most uncannily natural language understanding in the automotive world. Chat with it conversationally. Ask it to adjust the multicolour ambient lighting, find the nearest artisanal coffee spot, activate the seat massage, or even explain vehicle features. It learns, adapts, and anticipates – almost reading your mind.

AI That Predicts: MBUX is a learning machine. It observes your habits – navigation patterns, music choices, call routines – and proactively surfaces suggestions via its intelligent “Zero Layer” interface, putting what you need front-and-centre before you even ask.

AR Navigation – Seeing is Believing: Available in heavy hitters like the S-Class, new E-Class LWB, GLC, EQS, and EQE SUV in India, Augmented Reality Navigation is revolutionary. Live video from the front camera is overlaid with crystal-clear navigation prompts, arrows, and addresses. It transforms confusing junctions into moments of absolute clarity.

Connected Ecosystem: Expect flawless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration (usually wireless), the comprehensive Mercedes Me connect app for remote mastery, and seamless Over-the-Air (OTA) updates keeping your digital co-pilot sharp.

MBUX USP (India Focus): A voice assistant bordering on telepathy, screen technology that redefines automotive interiors (Hyperscreen/Superscreen), and game-changing AR Navigation.

BMW iDrive (Latest: OS 8.5 & OS 9)

The Driver’s Ultimate Digital Weapon

For decades, iDrive has been synonymous with driver-focused control, evolving from its iconic rotary dial to a sophisticated multi-input system.

Find its latest iterations powering the cockpits of the new X1, the elegant 3 Series Gran Limousine LCI, the flagship 7 Series and i7, the capable X5 and X7, the bold iX and XM, the sleek i4, and the dynamic new i5.

Commanding Cockpit Display: Dominating the driver’s view in most new models (7 Series, iX, i5, X1, etc.) is the breathtaking BMW Curved Display. This panoramic sweep of high-resolution glass seamlessly fuses the instrument cluster and central infotainment screen, angled perfectly towards the pilot.

Complementing this, the Head-Up Display (HUD), particularly on higher trims of the 7 Series/i7, X5, X7, and i5 in India, projects information with ghost-like clarity onto the windscreen – eyes always on the prize.

The Power of Choice (Controls): Here lies a key philosophical difference. Models running iDrive OS 8.5 (think 7 Series, i7, X5, X7) gloriously retain the exquisitely tactile iDrive rotary controller. For navigating complex menus while carving corners, it remains the gold standard for many enthusiasts.

Of course, the touchscreen is superb, voice control (“Hey BMW”) is sharper than ever, and gesture control adds a touch of magic. Beware, though, the newer iDrive OS 9 (found in the new X1) leans into a “touch-first” future, sometimes simplifying or omitting the beloved physical dial.

Sharp Software: OS 8.5 and 9 bring refined interfaces, often featuring intelligent widgets and the intuitive “QuickSelect” feature (OS 9) for rapid access. The system feels incredibly responsive, a digital extension of the car’s dynamic character. Driving modes don’t just change engine maps; they transform the entire digital environment.

“Hey BMW” – Your Co-Pilot: The voice assistant understands natural commands effectively, managing navigation, climate, media, and vehicle settings with German efficiency.

Connected Drive: Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is a given. BMW ConnectedDrive delivers a powerful suite of remote services, live traffic data, and crucial OTA updates.

The BMW Digital Key, turning your smartphone into a key (on compatible models), feels suitably futuristic.

iDrive USP (India Focus): Unwavering driver focus, the stunning Curved Display, the invaluable option of the physical rotary controller (OS 8.5 models), and class-leading HUD integration.

Audi MMI (Multi Media Interface with Touch Response & Virtual Cockpit Plus)

The Architect of Digital Precision

Audi’s MMI embodies a different kind of luxury tech – clean, precise, deeply integrated, and satisfyingly tactile.

Experience its latest evolution in the Q8, the refreshed Q7, Q5, the stately A8 L, the executive A6, the athletic S5 Sportback, the electrifying e-tron GT, and the Q8 e-tron available in India.

Integrated Visuals & The Virtual Cockpit: Audi’s genius lies in integration. The crown jewel is the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus – a standard-bearer for digital instrument clusters.

This 12.3-inch high-definition screen is your customizable command view, brilliantly displaying full-screen navigation, performance data, or media information.

It’s available across most of the modern Audi range in India. Complementing this in models like the A6, A8 L, Q7, and Q8 is the MMI Touch Response system: twin central touchscreens that blend seamlessly into the console.

The Satisfying Click (Controls): The MMI Touch Response screens aren’t just touch-sensitive; they provide palpable haptic and acoustic feedback. Why Buying a Demo Car Makes Financial Sense

When looking for a new automobile, people are primarily faced with a couple of choices. Should they get a new car or snag a pre-owned car at a good deal? However, not many of them know that there is another option they can go with!

By the way, it isn’t entirely true that buyers are unaware of the demo car alternative. The number of people purchasing a demo car has been increasing over the year. And if one looks at the benefits of buying a demo car, it becomes clear why it’s in trend.

So, if you’re somebody who’s out in the market for a new car or if you’ve ever wondered,Is a demo car worth buying?, this blog and you will prove to be a match made in heaven.

Here, we will talk about the pros and cons of buying a demo car. We will also answer questions like, “Are demo car models worth it?”. So, buckle up! Let’s go on a drive (Oh, pardon. We mean a test drive…).

What is a Demo Car?

First things first! Let’s make it clear at the outset what exactly a demo car is. When you walk into a dealership, the cars you see gleaming on display, and the ones you test drive,e are often demo cars (short for ‘demonstrator’ cars)

Contrary to the usual pre-owned cars, demo cars have clocked very few kilometres, are usually the latest models, and are meticulously maintained by the dealership staff. In a nutshell, they’re almost as good as new in terms of condition!

When buying a demo car, the biggest benefit is that it is a pretty wise financial move, as well. And especially if one is looking to buy a luxury car, the ‘demo alternative’ stands out as a tempting choice.

Let’s move to the next section to find out why!

Financial Benefits Of Buying a Demo Car

When in the market to buy a new four-wheeler, people tend to be a little open-minded with the spending. But hey, it doesn’t hurt being a little ‘rupee-wise’, does it? And buying a demo car can be a good financial decision for a multitude of reasons.

Let’s talk about a few of them, then!

Get an Impressive 10%-15% Discount

Let’s get the most obvious benefit out of the way. Buying a demo car is a more economical option as these vehicles are cheaper than their newer counterparts. Given that you buy from a dealership that offers great deals, you can easily get anywhere between 10%-15% discount.

Add to that the fact that demo cars are only lightly driven, a 15% discount sounds like a tempting deal, right? And if you’re in the market for a luxury car, buying a demo car is definitely the wiser choice.

Skip the First-Year Depreciation Hit

New cars undergo the highest rate of depreciation in their first year. But demo cars have already been put to use for at least a few months. Hence, it has already suffered its first (and the biggest) depreciation hit.

This becomes even more important for buyers who want to resell these demo cars in the future. Because demo cars offer a much better resale value to them. In a nutshell, buying a demo car hits the right spot between cost and quality.

Warranty Benefits with Option to Buy Extended Warranty

We already discussed the 10%-15% discount buyers get, which is already among the tempting benefits of buying a demo car. Now, here’s another benefit that can prove to be super-economical.

When a car encounters a problem, especially if it is a luxury car, the repair costs can be pretty high. That’s where the warranty benefits and the option to buy an extended warranty become important.

Buying a Demo Car vs Buying a Pre-Owned Car

After reading through these benefits, you might think that buying a pre-owned car can also offer the same benefits, right? Yes, we agree that there are some great deals in the market when you’re about to buy a pre-owned car.

However, there are some areas where the benefits of buying a demo car trump all other options in the market. Some of these are as follows:

Attractive Interest Rates on Financing

Interest rates on a pre-owned car can often hover as high as 14%. The same for demo cars is often, more or less, the same as that of a new car. So, when you finance a demo car, you’re getting a deal that is almost as economical as financing a brand-new car!

What’s more? Some manufacturers even offer buy-back plans for demo cars. This makes it an even more a ‘win-win’ situation for the buyers.

First Owner Benefits

Demo cars, especially the ones offered by luxury brands, are usuallyunregistered. For the buyer, it means that they practically get to the first owner of the car. This is not the case with used and pre-owned cars.

The financial aspect of this is that it significantly increases the resale value of the car when you buy a demo model. However, when you pick a pre-owned car, you’ll be the second owner and will get a resale value that is in accordance with that.

So, even if you’re buying it for the short term and intend to sell it later, buying a demo car will make sure you get your car’s worth when you want to move it on. This is another reason why you need to say a loud ‘Yeah’ when someone asks if the demo car is worth buying.

Moreover, it offers a 492-litre boot with the Avant station wagon taking it to 503 litres. However, it can be expanded to 1,534 litres when the rear seats are down.

However, we’ll have to wait for this new Audi sedan to be launched in India to know which features will be made available here.

Having said that, Audi has been super-active in recent times in both global and Indian markets, and there’s more to come.

Let’s explore how things are panning out to be for ‘the four rings’ in the coming years.

Make Way for Audi: Global Market Expectations

In the global market, Audi has reiterated its commitment to sustainable mobility repeatedly over recent years. By the year 2027, Audi plans to have a fully electric vehicle in all of its segments.

The global launch of the Audi Q6 e-Tron (and the much-awaited 2025/26 India launch) was a testament to the brand’s goal of becoming the global leader in sustainable mobility.

However, the next few years will not be limited to just EVs for Audi. As Audi AG CEO Gernot Döllner announced, the company plans to launch up to 20 new models by the end of 2025.

The focus in 2025 is to renew the A6 and the Q3 but there’s more to come and fans of the German Automaker worldwide can expect a few surprises.

Indian Market Performance & Expectations

In the Indian luxury car market, Audi recorded a stellar performance in 2023. With an impressive 89% sales growth, ‘The Four Rings’ recorded their best year since 2015 during that year.

However, 2024 was not as impressive for the brand, with a slight decline in sales. But that hasn’t killed the optimism for Audi as they have predicted an 8-10% sales growth in India in 2025.

The German company’s optimism has a lot to do with the introduction of new models across segments. Having already launched the Audi Q7 and Audi Q8 facelifts, the company is also expected to launch the Audi Q6 e-Tron in India somewhere between 2025 and 2026.

The latter will strengthen Audi’s presence in the luxury EV market in India

In addition to that, the company is also investing heavily in its pre-owned car segment, Audi Approved Plus.

That’s because this segment has seen robust growth recently, with a 25% growth in sales between January 2024 and March 2024.

Land Rover Defender Octa Review

The Land Rover Defender stands as a symbol of toughness, strength, and sheer off-road dominance. In the world of automobiles, it’s a legend that has conquered forests, deserts, and mountains (as we have seen in countless videos).

But in today’s world, high-performance SUVs must offer more, right? The demand is for not just power but also elegance, luxury, and personality. Enter the Defender OCTA, the most potent and dynamic Defender ever built, redefining off-road engineering in every sense of the word.

Be they the rugged trails or the smoothest roads, the Land Rover Defender Octa is made for those who demand complete control across every surface. Named after the octahedral shape of a diamond, the OCTA fuses rugged performance with modern luxury.

But does it fare well against its competitors like the Lamborghini Urus and Mercedes-AMG G 63? Let’s find out in this Motozite review.

Exterior Bolder than Ever

The Land Rover Defender OCTA hasn’t merely received a cosmetic makeover but adorns a re-imagined stance. In fact, it is taller, wider (and somewhat angrier) than any of the previous editions.

  • – Reworked front bumper and gloss black grille for improved cooling and stronger visual presence. It is also a strong statement for its aggressive design language.
  • – Increased track width by 68mm has taken its stance up a notch, allowing for a wider track presence.
  • – Its ride height is 1.1 inches higher than the other Defenders, giving it an impressive ground clearance of 12.7 inches.
  • – The exclusive 22-inch forged alloy wheels look all set to eat up gravel and glide effortlessly on the highways.
  • – The Carbon fiber accents on mirrors, bonnet, and vents, along with the Octa-exclusive badging give this reinvented Defender a signature touch.

In a nutshell, the Defender Octa exterior is a masterful blend of aggression and sophistication.

Tough on the Outside, Finesse on the Inside

The robust new Defender sheds a bit of its aggression as you step in. The cabin is a nice blend of advanced tech, ergonomic comfort and finesse, and the consistent usage of high-grade material.

  • 1. The Land Rover Defender Octa interior features ‘Body and Soul Seats, ’ which are equipped with six wellness programs and vibroacoustic technology. Different from traditional massage seats, this offers a soothing massage-like experience.
  • 2. Luxury and ruggedness come together in the Defender Octa when it comes to the upholstery with the perfect blend of Windsor leather and Kvadrat textile inserts.
  • 3. The design in the Defender Octa interior also comes with a panoramic sunroof, configurable ambient lighting, and real metal switchgear.
  • 4. Rear passengers get separate climate controls, USB-C charging, and ample space that screams comfort.

Defender Octa Review: Engine and Performance

Under the bonnet lies a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, borrowed from BMW’s M stable but tuned to Land Rover’s demands. It transforms the Defender from a mountain crawler into a continent crusher.

  • 1. Defender Octa’s power output stands at 635 hp and 750 Nm of torque.
  • 2. The Defender Octa models go from 0 to 100 km/h in a jaw-dropping 4 seconds.
  • 3. The Defender Octa also boasts an 8-speed automatic transmission with intelligent driveline dynamics.
  • 4. Its 6D Dynamics Suspension and hydraulic interlinked setup reduce pitch, roll, and dive on corners and bumps.
  • 5. The towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg, the Land Rover Defender Octa is as utilitarian as it is exhilarating.

Defender Octa Safety and Infotainment

The Defender OCTA may be tough on the outside, but it’s intelligent on the inside. It features arguably the Land Rover’s most advanced tech and safety features yet.

Defender Octa Infotainment & Comfort:

  • 1. 11.4-inch curved Pivi Pro touchscreen, along with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto for seamless connectivity.
  • 2. 14-speaker, 1300W Meridian Signature Sound System alongside Alexa voice integration for an immersively entertaining ride.
  • 3. Wireless charging and four-zone climate control boost convenience for rear passengers, too.
  • 4. To cope with India’s rising pollution levels, the Defender Octa also comes with Cabin Air Purification Plus.

Defender Octa Safety Features:

  • 1. 5-star Euro NCAP rating.
  • 2. The Defender Octa comes with 8 airbags and reinforced aluminum-intensive architecture.
  • 3. It also features 360-degree surround cameras with ClearSight Ground View.
  • 4. Other safety features in the Defender Octa include Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keep Assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control.
  • 5. Emergency braking, Driver Monitoring, and Terrain Response settings make the Defender Octa a robust but super safe beast that will entertain, protect, and adapt, no matter the terrain.

Land Rover Defender Octa: How does it feel on the wheel?

On the road, the Defender Octa cuts a commanding presence with a masterful blend of speed and agility. The recalibrated steering is much more responsive when compared to other Defender models.

  • – Notwithstanding its focus on performance in drive, the Defender Octa provides a comfortable gliding riding experience even on uneven, potholed roads.
  • – Defender Octa’s terrain mastery is such that no surface is too daunting. Be it snowy, sandy, muddy, or rocky, the meanest Defender ever cuts a dominating figure across all terrains.
  • – In addition to that, Defender Octa’s configurable terrain system allows drivers to switch differential locks and throttle response based on the road.

Defender Octa: Competitor Check

The new Land Rover Defender Octa enjoys a place among high-performance SUVs that blend brute force and utility with unmatched luxury. These include the iconic and versatile off-roader Mercedes-AMG G63, the urban-focused BMW X7 M60i, and the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser LC300.

The Defender Octa trumps the Land Cruiser LC300 in terms of performance and boasts better all-terrain functionality than the BMW X7 M60i. And it stands as a tough competitor to the iconic Mercedes-AMG G63, as well.

As for its limitations, even the Defender Octa leaves a bit to be desired, such as:

  • 1. The Indian model does not have all the ADAS features, which are available in the global models.
  • 2. Efficiency isn’t Octa’s forte with a fuel economy of around 5-6 km/l in the city.
  • 3. The lack of diesel options also stands out as a major drawback in every Defender Octa review.

The Verdict: Adventure and Luxury Melded into One

In a nutshell, the Land Rover Defender Octa is a high-performance SUV that goes all in on adventure without compromising on luxury and sophistication. For the Indian market, the Land Rover Defender Octa is not only the fastest Defender yet but also the most desirable one.

Why is it called the biggest leap that the Land Rover Defender has ever taken? Because it gives you the feel of a tailored luxury suite while boasting the capabilities of a super SUV. Whether you’re navigating the chaos of the city traffic or need a companion for a foray into the wilderness, the Land Rover Defender is a spectacular choice!

Our verdict? Its ₹2.65 crore price tag is worth every penny for those looking to drive bold in luxury!

10 Reasons to Buy a Demo Car – Motozite

When in the market to buy a car, buyers often shuffle between two choices. Should they buy a brand-new vehicle or try purchasing a used car? Very few people among them stop to consider that there’s another alternative. That there’s a ‘third option’ as well!

We’re talking about the alternative of buying demo cars, instead. Buying these cars comes with lots of benefits and essentially offers you the best of both worlds. And, of course, these cars are an economical buy!

But before we give you the 10 reasons to buy demo cars, let’s make things clear with a quick description.

What is a Demo Car?

A demo car is used by automobile dealerships for displaying to the customers, and giving test drives to them.

As opposed to the regular pre-owned cars, these demo cars are much less used.

Furthermore, these cars are also relatively newer models and are also looked after well. Hence, they’re also in a comparatively better condition. But hey, these benefits are only the tip of the iceberg.

So, without further ado, let us look at some convincing reasons to buy demo cars.

10 Reasons to Buy a Demo Car

If you’re still reading this article, we believe you’re considering purchasing a demo car. So, why don’t we convince you completely with 10 reasons to buy demo cars?

Easy On Your Pockets

Let’s get the most obvious benefit out of the way. Buying a demo car is a much more economical option as these vehicles are cheaper than their newer counterparts. Furthermore, even luxury demo cars are only lightly driven during test drives.

So, you get a car in a decent condition which also goes easy on your pocket. Now that the pricing is out of the way, let’s talk about the vehicle’s condition.

Less Wear and Tear

When you buy a new car, you get a completely fresh vehicle. When you buy a used one, you might get your hands on one that has been driven a lot. And it might have resulted in a lot of wear and tear.

When you purchase one of the demo cars for sale, they offer the best of both worlds (just as we told you earlier on in this article). First of all, the car is not driven a lot when compared to a pre-owned vehicle.

Warranty Benefits and Option to Buy Extended Warranty

Demo cars are generally under the OEM Warranty with an option to buy an extended warranty. This becomes so much more important when you’re buying luxury demo cars.

Overall, the money you spend on taking home a luxury demo car is much less, and when you add the option to buy an extended warranty, peace of mind is guaranteed, isn’t it?

First Owner Benefits with Demo Cars

Demo cars offered by luxury brands are usually unregistered, which means you get to be the first owner of the car. This significantly boosts the car’s resale value compared to a used car, where you’d be the second owner.

So, even if you’re buying it for the short term and intend to sell it later, buying a demo car will make sure you get your car’s worth when you want to move it on.

No Major Depreciation Hit

New cars undergo the highest rate of depreciation in their first year. But demo cars have already been put to use for, at least, a few months. Hence, it has already suffered its first (and the biggest) depreciation hit.

This becomes even more important for buyers who want to resell these demo cars in the future. Because demo cars offer a much better resale value to them.

Looked After to ‘Impress’

Demo cars are intended to impress potential buyers. Dealerships use these cars for test drives. Hence, they have no other option but to take good care of them.

Be it the exterior or engine health, or even the advanced tech features, these cars are in great shape.

Till the day they’re sold, these demo cars undergo regular servicing, routine inspections, and in-depth detailing. As a buyer, you wouldn’t have to worry about the condition in which you will be buying a demo car.

Zero Waiting Period

When you buy a brand-new car, the shipping process can result in a long waiting period. Especially if you have some strong preferences in terms of the colour and model. This is not the case when you buy a demo car.

So, for those who hate the hassle when it comes to buying cars, the latter becomes a tempting option.

Attractive Interest Rates on Financing

Interest rates on a pre-owned car can often hover as high as 14%. However, the same for demo cars will usually be similar to new cars (or very close to them). So, when you finance a demo car, you’re more or less getting as good a deal in the long run as you do when financing a new car.

Add to that the fact that some manufacturers offer buyback plans for demo cars, as well. So, the deal becomes a win-win for buyers of demo cars.

Rigorous Certification and Inspection

Just before being sold, luxury demo cars, or, for that matter, any demo car, undergo a rigorous inspection process. So, the buyer gets a vehicle that fits the high standard that they’re looking for. Moreover, such inspections also reduce the chances of hidden mechanical problems in the car.

Naturally, this brings peace of mind to the buyer and ensures that they don’t have to worry about repair costs shooting through the roof. In other words, buying a demo car continued to be an economical option even after the purchase.

Trust and Transparency Guaranteed

Demo cars are sold by authorized dealerships. Hence, trust and transparency are the least of the things that you need to worry about. You get the complete history of the vehicle and as for the maintenance, the dealership itself sees to it that the car remains in perfect shape.

This is another reason why buying a demo car trumps the option of buying a pre-owned car. After all, you can’t be so sure about the usage history of a pre-owned car as the owner might not tell the full story or disclose the actual condition of the car.

Explore Our Range of Demo Cars

As you saw, there are not just a couple but ten convincing reasons to buy demo cars. So, if you’re convinced, and you’re all set to step out into the market for one.

We’d love to have you at Motozite to explore our range of luxury demo cars that are packed with features and are in as perfect a shape as any demo car you can find!

BMW i7 Long-Term Review: Living with a Luxury EV

Since its introduction in 1977, the BMW 7 series has been synonymous with style, luxury, cutting-edge technology, and performance in the executive sedan segment. The German manufacturer’s flagship sedan has stood the test of time (To be fair, it has passed the test with flying colours).

However, the electrification of the automobile industry came as a challenge for the makers of this timeless machine. The demand was simple: the EVs were here, and BMW had to figure out how to make an all-electric variant without losing the X-factor that makes the BMW 7 series special.

The answer that the people at BMW came up with was the BMW i7! An all-electric, super-powerful sedan with first-class comfort, aimed at redefining the premium EV segment. But does it achieve what it aims at? How does the BMW i7 compare with its competitors? Let’s unpack all with our contribution to the long list of BMW i7 reviews.

BMW i7 Interior and Exterior

Even as an all-electric vehicle, the BMW i7 retains all the charm of a luxury limousine that the 7 series is known for. Let’s start exploring the EV, starting with the exterior and the BMW i7 interior.

How Are Things On The Outside?

bmw i7 exterior

The upper daytime running light strips are adorned with Swarovski crystals, giving it a futuristic yet premium appearance.

The iconic BMW kidney grille in the i7 is even more prominent, making it an EV that cannot be ignored.

The ‘Dynamic Light Carpet’ feature illuminates the ground around the car when a passenger approaches or enters the vehicle, making for a memorable welcome experience.

Despite being a large and luxurious sedan, the i7 boasts aerodynamic efficiency in performance with an impressive ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.24.

The frameless windows in the i7 masterfully complement the sedan’s sleek and futuristic look.

How Are Things On The Inside?

bmw i7 interior

Starting on the inside, the BMW i7 features the Panoramic Sky Lounge Roof that extends across the entirety of the roof. It also comes with dynamic LED lighting and multi-colour customization options for ambient lighting.

The smallest of buttons inside the i7 look premium, and the free-flowing use of leather complements the interior’s design language.

Taking passenger comfort and convenience to a whole new level, the rear seats in the BMW i7 recline up to 42.5 degrees.

BMW i7 Safety, Infotainment & Convenience

In terms of its appearance and feel, the BMW i7 interior and other aspects lay a powerful claim for redefining the luxury EV segment and continuing the BMW 7 series legacy. Now, let’s move to its safety, convenience, and tech features.

BMW i7 Safety Features

First of all, the BMW i7 ensures top-tier safety with a 5-star Euro NCAP Rating.

The i7 features adaptive cruise control with Level 2+ Autonomous Driving.

It allows for hands-free driving, thanks to steering assistance and active lane-keeping features.

The Intersection Collision Warning and Evasive Aid bolster the i7’s preventive features repertoire.

BMW i7 Infotainment and Connectivity

The BMW i7 electric offers a theatre screen experience to rear passengers with its 31.3-inch 8K Screen that drops from the roof. So, the backseat becomes a mini-cinema!

The back doors have 5.5-inch touchscreens integrated into them that allow passengers to control window and roof blinds, ambient lighting, rear seat settings, and more.

The BMW i7 comes with the Standard Bowers & Wilkins system with 18 speakers and 655W output along with an optional upgrade to a whopping 35 speakers and 1965W output.

A 14.9-inch touchscreen, the BMW Interaction bar, stretches across the dashboard and enables seamless control for lighting and climate.

Operating on a standard BMW Operating System 8.0, the BMW i7 in India can be upgraded to the 8.5 with the M70 xDrive.

BMW i7 Comfort and Convenience

Equipped with a fragrance diffuser, the i7 comes with 4-zone automatic climate control.

The 5.5-inch touchscreen on the doors offers enhanced control to passengers.

The BMW i7 electric offers ventilated seats, along with heating and massaging features.

Gesture control sunblinds and soft-close doors add to the sheer luxury that the BMW i7 electric provides.

BMW i7 Power and Performance

bmw i7engine

Despite being an all-electric luxury sedan, the BMW i7 packs a punch when it comes to performance and power. So, let’s dig deeper:

In terms of range, the xDrive60 variant touches up to 625 km, while the M70 xDrive has a range of 560 km.

The Indian version of the BMW i7 comes with DC fast charging of up to 200 kW and AC charging of up to 22 kW.

When it comes to speed, the BMW i7 in India offers 544 hp and the same 0-100 km/h time of 4.7s.

How Does The BMW i7 Feel On The Wheel?

Acceleration becomes effortless in the BMW i7 electric, thanks to the instant torque powered by the dual-motor setup.

The standard BMW i7 in India comes with an Adaptive 2-axle Air Suspension and Integral Active Steering (rear-wheel steering).

Even after the much-sportier dynamics of the M70, the BMW i7 is more favourable for comfortable and refined cruising instead of ‘foot on the accelerator’ high-intensity driving.

In a nutshell, the BMW i7 is a large luxury sedan EV that smoothly glides, adorned in all its futuristic and elegant charm.

Pitting the BMW i7 Against Its Competitors

When compared to its competitors, like the Audi e-tron GT or the Mercedes-Benz EQS, the BMW i7 clinches a few battles and falls short in others. Here’s an overview:

Where Does BMW i7 Trump Competitors?

The BMW i7’s sound system, theatre experience, and lounge-like seating surely set it apart when it comes to rear-seat convenience and comfort.

The adaptive air suspension and rear-wheel steering offer a smoother ride.

Another great aspect of the BMW i7 is that it has standard AWD in all of its variants, which is not the case with competitors.

Where Does the BMW i7 Lose Out to Competitors?

The BMW i7 electric falls short of the Mercedes-Benz EQS in terms of range, which reaches up to 770 km.

The Audi e-tron GT defeats the BMW i7 in terms of speed. The former goes from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds! Moreover, the sportier Audi e-tron GT is lighter than the BMW i7 electric, making it more agile on the wheel.

In terms of pricing, the likes of the Audi e-tron GT and Mercedes-Benz EQS do offer slightly cheaper entry points into the luxury electric sedan segment. However, the BMW i7 does offer competitive pricing when you look at the wide variety of preferences it caters to.

So, as you go looking for more advanced features and functionality, all these luxury electric sedans will fall between the 1.8 crore and 2.5 crore range.

Is the BMW i7 bossing the luxury EV sedan segment?

When asked if the BMW i7 beats its competitors to sit on the throne in its segment, we’ve got to say it’s not that simple. First, let’s just get this out of the way: The BMW i7 masterfully combines luxury, technology, and comfort (no BMW i7 reviews will disagree with that, to be honest).

Whether it is the best-suited luxury electric sedan for you or not is a question that only you can answer for yourself. Do you want ultra-luxury seating and an unmatched passenger experience? Is ride comfort and smooth driving your priority? If you say ‘yes’ to these questions, the BMW i7 is the perfect pick.

However, if you’re looking for a sportier design and prefer speed and agility over luxury and comfort, the Audi e-tron GT or the Mercedes-Benz EQS can be slightly more appealing options. Either way, the BMW i7 is among the most luxurious electric sedans out there! And it is surely carrying forward the legacy of the BMW 7 series in the age of EVs.

2024 Audi Q7 Facelift Review – Motozite

Years after it first dropped on the scene, the Audi Q7 remains one of the flagship SUVs of the company. Audi’s 7-seater has more than held its own in the premium SUV segment, acting as a symbol of cutting-edge technology, versatility, and performance.

However, the luxury SUV sector is fiercely competitive. The Q7 has the likes of the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE to deal with. So, to stay in the fight for dominance (and possibly win it), Audi gave the Q7 yet another upgrade with the 2024 Audi Q7 Facelift.

Have they done enough to trump the competitors? Does the updated version make the Q7 a complete premium SUV in the segment? We’re about to go looking for answers to these questions. You want them, too? Hop on, then, and let’s go for a ride!

What’s New On The Outside AND Inside?

Our first stop will be to find out what’s fresh in the facelift! Of course, we don’t judge a book by its cover and a car by its exterior, but we believe it’ll be better to start from the outside before we step in, right?

2024 Audi Q7 Facelift Exterior Upgrades

2024 Audi q7 Facelift Exterior

The new Audi Q7 version ditches the corporate style for a fiery first impression with a larger and revamped octagonal single-frame grille with vertical chrome slats.

The signature 2D Audi rings on the front and rear have also been redesigned to give it a contemporary feel.

The front and rear bumpers have also been tweaked, and they complement the larger air intakes to give the new Audi Q7 a sportier look.

This new iteration of the Audi Q7 introduces upsized wheels at 20 inches (up from the previous 19 inches). However, the lines and silhouette remain the same.

The brand’s signature Matrix LED headlights in the facelifted Audi Q7 are even more intricate in design and boast high-res road illumination. Its adaptive light distribution helps reduce glare for approaching drivers (so here’s a brownie point for safety, too).

At the rear, LED taillamps have gotten a wee bit sleeker and come with dynamic turn indicators.

2024 Audi Q7 Facelift Interior Upgrades

2024 Audi q7 Facelift Interior

The facelifted 2024 Audi Q7 doesn’t have a lot of surprises to offer. However, space won’t be a problem with the new Audi Q7, featuring super-comfy 2nd row seats and electrically foldable 3rd seats.

The open-pore wood panel on the door pads and the dashboard is a pleasant surprise, though, with its dark elegance. It perfectly contrasts the sporty exterior of his new Q7 iteration.

When it comes to quality, the cabin of the facelifted Audi Q7 is dripping with class. But that’s something we’ve come to expect from and love about the Q7, haven’t we?

It also comes with height-adjustable front seats and a panoramic sunroof that comfortably accommodates those in the rear seats.

The New Audi Q7 Engine and Performance

Located under the new Audi Q7 bonnet is the powerful 3.0-litre 340hp turbo-petrol V6 engine.

The smooth and seamless 8-speed automatic gearbox complements the V6 engine and makes driving this luxury SUV an exhilarating experience.

The gearbox and engine together make the Audi Q7 a speedy machine, in spite of it being a full-sized premium SUV.

Security, Infotainment, and Convenience: How Does The New Audi Q7 Fare?

Safety First

First, the 2024 Audi Q7 Facelift boasts a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

It comes with 8 airbags, including front, side, and curtain airbags. Plus, it has a Park Assist feature with a 360-degree cam that gives the driver a comprehensive view of parking maneuvers.

The new Audi Q7’s active lane assist monitors lane markings to provide corrective inputs to help drivers avoid unintentional lane departures.

The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts drivers about any deviations in tire pressure to prevent mishandling caused by tire blowouts.

Convenience and Comfort

The new Audi Q7 comes with a four-zone automatic climate control system. This allows personalized temperature for the driver, front passengers, and rear passengers.

The technology variant also comes with adaptive windscreen wipers that allow crystal clear visibility.

Infotainment Features

Powered by 19 speakers and a subwoofer, the Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system in the facelifted Audi Q7 promises a concert-like sound experience.

The added two rear USB ports mean that the driver and the passengers keep their devices (and their spirits) charged up throughout the drive.

Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus- a 31.24 cm (12.3-inch) fully digital instrument cluster that provides an intuitive, high-resolution display of essential driving information. It has customizable layouts- Classic, Dynamic and sport view, allowing drivers to switch between different display modes based on their preferences.

Both the 10.1-inch upper touchscreen for navigation and entertainment and the 8.6-inch lower touchscreen dedicated to climate and comfort controls enable intuitive operation for haptic feedback.

Audi Smartphone Interface allows for a seamless integration of your smartphone’s functionality with the Audi Q7’s infotainment system, making it easier and safer to access certain mobile applications while driving.

How Does It Feel On The Steering Wheel?

2024 Audi q7 steering wheel

Powered by a 3.0 L V6 Engine and an 8-speed gearbox, the facelifted Audi Q7 goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, making it a fun machine to drive (and we mean ‘really’ drive with a foot on the accelerator).

The Audi Q7 comes equipped with Audi Drive Select, offering seven distinct driving modes. This system allows you to adjust the suspension, throttle response, steering, and drivetrain settings to suit different driving conditions. Whether you’re navigating city streets, highways, or rugged terrains, the Q7 adapts effortlessly.

The cruise control in the new Audi Q7 allows drivers to maintain the pace with swagger and safety, thanks to the speed limiter (which is adjustable).

The facelifted Audi Q7 also comes with an air suspension that promises (and delivers) a comfortable ride. Whether you’re gliding over city roads, cruising on highways, or tackling rough terrains, this intelligent system adjusts the suspension height and damping to provide the best possible driving experience.

Pitting The 2024 Audi Q7 Facelift Against Its Competitors

audi vs bmw vs mercedes

When it comes to pricing, the 2024 Audi Q7 Facelift Premium Plus model starts at ₹88.70 lakh, while the Technology Model reaches up to ₹97.85 lakh.

The new Audi Q7 is a great option in the 7-seater Luxury SUV segment, priced around and under 1 Crore, with competitors like the BMW X5 and Marcedes-Benz GLE being slightly more expensive, in spite of the fact that they’re both essentially 5-seaters.

The new Audi Q7 offers just one petrol engine option, while competitors like the BMW X5 offer diesel options as well.

The diesel and plug-in hybrid option mean that the BMW X5 boasts a significantly better fuel economy as compared to the petrol-only Audi Q7.

When compared to the Mercedes–Benz GLE, the new Audi Q7 does not offer ventilated seats while the former does.

The Matrix LED headlights of the new Audi Q7 comfortably defeat the GLE and X5’s LED systems.

While the Mercedes–Benz GLE comes with Active Brake Assist and Blind Spot Detection, Audi’s Q7 misses both.

Despite its few shortcomings, the new Audi Q7 manages to strike a balance between agility and comfort in its price range of around 1 Crore.

While the BMW X5 boasts its sporty feel in drive, the Mercedes-Benz GLE focuses more on comfort, giving away some of the agility in the process.

And that’s where the 2024 Audi Q7 Facelift packs a punch and sticks to the ‘all-rounder premium SUV’ tag that the Q7 is already known for (especially with its competitive pricing).

What Does The New Audi Q7 Miss Out On?

The new Audi Q7 masterfully balances handling and comfort, bringing it closer to being the perfect premium SUV. However, the new Q7 iteration leaves a lot to be desired.

The lack of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features like cross-traffic alert, brake assist, blind spot detection, highway assist with semi-autonomous drive mode, and reversing assistant.

For those looking for a surprise factor (or something new), the new Audi Q7 interior is quite predictable, taking a leaf out of the books of previous Audi models.

The Q7 does not come with ventilated seats, which makes it a problematic drive in hot and humid conditions.

Absence of a head-up display is a missed opportunity.

Premium Plus vs. Technology Variant: Which One to Choose?

The Premium Plus variant is well-equipped with all the essentials, but the Technology variant offers additional luxury and safety features like:

Park Assist Plus with 360-degree camera

Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound System (19 speakers, 730W output)

Air Ionizer and Aromatization for a more premium in-cabin feel

Adaptive windscreen wipers with integrated washer nozzles

Comfort key with Sensor based boot-lid control

If you want the best-in-class experience, the Technology variant is worth the extra cost. However, if you’re looking for a more value-for-money luxury SUV, the Premium Plus variant still offers an incredible package.

2024 Audi Q7 Facelift: The Final Verdict

Just like we always say, the final verdict is subjective and depends on the preferences of every other driver. But we can go back to the question we asked ourselves at the beginning of this article. Does the facelifted Audi Q7 trump its top competitors?

Well, the new Audi Q7 is an appetizing deal in the 1 Crore price range, especially for those looking for a perfect balance between power, performance, comfort, and entertainment. There are areas where the Mercedes-Benz GLE or the BMW X5 might overtake the new Q7 and vice versa.

But does the facelifted Audi Q7 hold its ground strongly in the competition against the other big boys? Well, we just have to say a HUGE YES to that!
